Some of you may have read about the rumours surrounding whether dedicated server support will be available in the upcoming CoD:MW2.

This afternoon, during a live BASH episode, who should turn up but Infinity Wards community manager, Fourzerotwo.

A number of questions were put forward, including the dedi server question. Rob "fourzerotwo" Bowling replied with no - dedi servers will not be available. Multiplayer will run through a "IWNet" and servers will not be available for purchase. Listen Servers only.

Furthermore, Bowling also confirmed that PunkBuster will not be supported, alternatively using the Valave Anti-Cheat (or VAC) system.

Cuz they don't give a f**k as long as they make loads of money. Also PC is at the bottom of the pile they want to make sure the console version is the best ever the PC one will just be another half effort like WaW

TBH i don't think they can afford this. Loseing their PC community would be too big of a blow. They will proberbly make a patch of some sort later on and make the dedi servers running again.

If no dedi servers are available on release, i'm sure they will follow in a patch, if not then fuck them. Personally, i won't be buying the game till i hear that dedi servers are supported.

We can only hope Bog, but with the implementation of the match making and vac instead of pb, and the fact that their servers will connect to iwnet, i dont see how they can have both. :/

IW sleeping with valve, who'd have thought it?

Ill still be buying the game for 2 reasons - a) the single player. That will still rock. and b) the future hope that they allow dedi's...

I am still in shock though.

P.S. Searching mw2 no dedi on google has cl in 6th. xD

ok i don't understand rudedog from fpsadmin got some questions answered but jason west iw ceo back in september and was asked this question and gave this answer

The big questions are Mod tools, dedicated server bits as well as Linux support.

jw - They are all on the list however as of right now it looks like they will not be in the box or be released on day 1.


so with that said and done wtf has happened could 402 have it wrong??

I feel totaly betrayed!!
Having been part of the cod community since the original release (i miss tigertown), I always thought IW would stand by PC gamers, But since Blizzard are now in ultimate control, who knows who pulls the strings!!

I am still going to get the game as it will be awesome, and no doubt MP will be great (but not a good as with dedi servers), and they may even fix the dedi server issue.

But no PB out of the box!!! That I cant Fathom out!! Have they got such short memorys? COD2 release bring back any memorys? the game was unplayable for the first 2 months, until the whole community put presure on to go with PB. Probably 1/3 of the cod2 community was lost due to no PB out of the box.

Looks like I will be playing Co-op for sometime before risking MP game play, for risk of loosing my love of the game because of punks.

Theres always a bright side though, I can start playing JET SET WILLY & TROJAN again,
